Perhaps most importantly, Sahil created this business to honour his mother’s life and legacy, as she was someone who pushed him to always pursue his deepest passions and to share his strongest skills with the world.

Born and raised in India, he was drawn to the creative realm from an early age and has always fostered a curiosity about human nature and behavior. However, it was only after he dropped out of business school — where he often skipped classes to learn about 3D animation — that he received his family’s full support and blessing.
Sahil Chawla is a visionary entrepreneur and filmmaker.

A two-year intensive at the prestigious Whistling Woods International Film School planted the seed for what would grow into an exciting career. In the program, he learned about all aspects of the filmmaking process, specializing in Animation and Visual Effects.
It was Sahil’s passion and ambition that led him to accept a scholarship to the Vancouver Film School, which represented his first time on Canadian soil. This experience would launch him into the studio world at Sony Imageworks, where he worked on dream projects such as 300, Godzilla, and Alice in Wonderland, among many other dynamic titles.
His multi-passionate nature briefly took him out of studio work and into technology, namely with e-commerce company Shopify, which provided a masterclass in branding and marketing. He even started his own sock company on the platform called Flux Socks. Eventually, the sum of his experiences helped him realize that he needed to return to film, his original passion.
This led to the founding of Sahil Chawla Films in 2020.

Began a Business degree after high school to support the family business, though ultimately dropped out to pursue his artistic side.
2005

Quickly enrolled in a film production program at Whistling Woods International, India’s top film school. This course introduced him to the fundamentals of filmmaking, from screenwriting to acting, directing, cinematography, sound design, and editing. He chose to specialize in animation.
2006-2008

Moved from the heart of Bollywood to “Hollywood North” to pursue studies at the Vancouver Film School. Sahil enrolled in a two-year intensive program to study everything there is to know about visual effects and post-production (unfortunately, Bollywood films aren’t known for high-quality visual effects). He was excited to learn the science behind classic films like Jurassic Park and Transformers.
2009-2010

He began working in Vancouver’s top VFX studios — most notably, Sony Imageworks — on everything from TV shows to blockbuster films. He learned first-hand what goes into producing the highest level of visual effects.
2011 - 2015

Sahil briefly left the film industry to explore new horizons in tech, including partnering with a startup to open their new head office in Vancouver. The company specialized in automations and building Customer Relationship Management Systems, or CRMs. This helped him understand how to streamline and automate business processes and led him to adopt a “lean” mindset.
2015

Started his own e-commerce sock brand to get in touch with his creative self again. The sock served as a blank canvas that he could share with international artists that he found on Instagram, who would in turn provide their designs.
2016

He started working at Shopify as a specialist for the platform’s biggest brands. He helped them with branding and marketing strategies and how to understand and optimize KPMs (Key Performance Measures) that affect the growth of their business.
2017

Dove back into filmmaking and got his first paid gig ($500!) to produce a commercial for a local roofing company, which ended up generating over $800K in sales for their business. Sahil like to think of this as his “maiden” project.
2018

Started producing films full-time as a solo filmmaker and began building an agency.
